What's for you, won't go by you!

A wise woman once told me 'what's for you, won't go by you'.

And she has said it many times since. (In fact two wise women have told me this often, one of whom is 'old' and one who is not!)
But what value does this saying really have in our lives?

I find myself using it often with my friends and repeating it to myself. To me it is so powerful and so freeing as it helps me trust in the universe, trust in the way things work out and trust in the unknown.

The meaning that I attach to it, is that we have to accept that we do not have control over everything that happens in our life. And only when we recognise this can we relax and accept that every situation brings us what we need to know to help us grow. It's all about how we view the situation and the insight we take from it.

I have had a recent experience where things were not working out for me in a way I thought they 'should' at the time, but amazingly a few months later, I now understand that far greater opportunties were around the corner and they were 'for me'.

But for me 'what's for you, won't go by you' is only true when I add a large dollop of action...this philosophy does not apply if you sit around waiting for the things to fall into your lap, you have to go out into the world and do everything you can to get what you want, but trust that if it does not happen that maybe it wasn't the best thing for you at the time!
